Pause for a moment to imagine playing two of golf’s most treasured layouts. You won’t need to be a member. You don’t need to be a TOUR player. You simply need to plan ahead.
By that we mean if you want your pick of next year’s times at Muirfield and the Old Course you should have your schedule ready to book in relative short order. Thereafter there will be random openings but not nearly the flexibility, particularly at Muirfield where visitor play is only allowed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Such a golf trip is clearly beyond compare. Your round at the Old Course, starting from and returning to the R&A clubhouse, is played alongside the history of our game. It’s not a particularly difficult golf course but you have to manage the awe factor. Strategic tee shots (stay left) and creativity around the greens will serve you well. Deep breaths are in order on the first tee and again on seventeen. At Muirfield, you’ll play twice: a Fourball in the morning, Foursomes (alternate shot) in the afternoon. The course was originally designed in 1891 by Old Tom Morris who produced one of the most unusual layouts in golf: the first nine plays in a clockwise arc outside of the second nine which plays counter-clockwise. This way you have to contend with constantly changing wind. Please be aware that Muirfield only accepts fourball bookings. Lunch in the club between your rounds is included.

It Is Not Too Early
These two are the most sought after tee times in Scotland. So, if you intend to play next year we encourage you to plan soon keeping in mind that reservations for travel in 2020 made by September 27, 2019 may be confirmed with a reduced deposit of $500 per person. The $500 deposit is subject to additional payment being collected if Green Fees are fully payable and non-refundable at time of booking, e.g. Muirfield.
